A prolific foraminiferal assemblage comprising fifty-Three species, dominated by the families Vaginulinidae and Nodosariidae, is reported from Middle to Upper Jurassic Chari Formation of Fakirwari, Kutch Mainland. The assemblage includes twenty-Five species reported for the first time from the Indian region. On the basis of a number of short ranging species, a Callovian to Oxfordian age has been assigned to the studied sequence and an attempt has been made to mark the Callovian-Oxfordian boundary within the sequence. The foraminiferal assemblage indicates shallow water, near shore shelf environment with fluctuating shoreline for the exposed sediments. The Fakirwari foraminiferal assemblage exhibits affinity with other Jurassic foraminiferal assemblages of the Tethyan realm, suggesting a close sea connection between Kutch and these regions during Middle to Upper Jurassic times.
