Rare Earth Element (REE) distribution in 10 samples of Precambrian BIF of granulite gneiss belts of Tami! Nadu suggest that the BIP derived their constitutents of iron and silica from hydrothermal source. The BIP thus formed were metamorphosed to granulite fades metamorphism along with the associated volcanogenic products and sediments.
