Application of Hornblende Fabric in Fold Analysis

The optic direction Y in hornblende in the lower amphibolite facies rocks of the southern part of the Chitradurga schist belt is parallel to the hinge lines of the earliest folds. Hornblende orientation and the temporal relations between crystallisation, folding and formation of foliation point to ENE- WSW compression at the time of deformation.
