Six regional seams and six local seams were intersected in a borehole RJC-10 drilled during April-July 1976 in Chuperbhita coalfield of Rajmahal hills, Bihar. The Ash-Moisture relations of these seams is strikingly linear in this particular borehole. A correlation with lithofacies has indicated that RJC-10 is in a zone of relatively lower Sandstone/Shale and Clastic ratios. The water of hydration of inorganic constituents present as combined water of 'hygroscopic' moisture in the finer sediments could have been expelled in a gradual and linear manner with increase in depth.

Abstract

The Ash-Moisture relations of these seams is strikingly linear in this particular borehole. A correlation with lithofacies has indicated that RJC-10 is in a zone of relatively lower Sandstone/Shale and Clastic ratios. The water of hydration of inorganic constituents present as combined water of 'hygroscopic' moisture in the finer sediments could have been expelled in a gradual and linear manner with increase in depth.
