Seismic Stratigraphic Modelling of Subsurface Godavari Limestone of Godavari Delta Region and Its Importance in Oil Exploration

A particular limestone named Godavari Limestone is encountered in Godavari delta region of Early Eocene age. This limestone has been mapped and used as a marker horizon in seismic stratigraphic studies of the area because of its high acoustic impedance contrast with the surrounding clastics. The limestone has been interpreted to be of the platform type deposHed in a shallow marine shelf environment. Shelf edge has also been mapped which can consist of good petroliferous deposits of carbonate buildups.
