The paper records the first find of identifiable redlichid trilobites, belonging to two genera, from the strata of the Arenaceous Member of the Tal Formation in the Garhwal Syncline. This fossil horizon in the Garhwal Syncline, in the past, has also yielded small shelly fossils. The chronostratigraphic designation of this small shelly fauna in the Qiongzhusian (? Atdabanian) Stage of China now stands corrected with the present discovery. The trilobite genera correspond to the Botomian Stage (1 Tsanglangpuian Stage of China), in the Early Cambrian.
