The foraminiferal genus Pellatispira Boussac is represented by P. crassicolumnata Umbgrove, P. inflata Umbgrove, P. irregularis Umbgrove, P. madraszi (Hantken) and P. orbitoidea (Provale) in the Upper Eocene Kopili Formation of Garo Hills, Meghalaya. This is the first record of such an assemblage from the Indian region. Vacuolispira Tan is treated as a synonym of Pellatispira Boussac, while Biplanispira Umbgrove is considered as generically distinct from Pellatispira. The larger foraminiferal fauna of the Kopili Formation exhibits a close affinity with that of Upper Eocene succession of Indonesia.
