The Barakar sandstones are medium to coarse grained, poorly sorted, nearly symmetrical, and leptokurtic sands. The variations in mean, sorting, skewness and kurtosis indicate change in environmental energy conditions. Environmental interpretations indicate that the Barakar sandstones closely resemble modern fluvial sands rather'than either dune or beach sediments.

Abstract

The Barakar sandstones are medium to coarse grained, poorly sorted, nearly symmetrical, and leptokurtic sands. The variations in mean, sorting, skewness and kurtosis indicate change in environmental energy conditions. Environmental interpretations indicate that the Barakar sandstones closely resemble modern fluvial sands rather'than either dune or beach sediments.
