Dehydroxylation and Dehydration as Parameters for Characterisation of Clays Part I: Montmorillonite, Attapulgite and Illite
Subscribe/Renew Journal
An improved TG and DTG method for identification of montmorillonite, i11ite and attapulgite has been described. The effect of the modified experimental conditions on individual dehydration pattern and the Bouncing dehydration phenomena have been discussed. New thermal parameters for clay characterization have been elucidated. This technique involves a simple instrument design which could be fabricated indigenously and can be used for species identification or even routine quality control work in laboratories which Jack sophisticated and expensive instrumentation.
