Five species of Bolivinoides are reported for the first time from the Upper Cretaceous and Lower Tertiary subsurface sediments of the Cauvery Basin, South India. The Stratigraphic ranges of these species are compared with established planktonic foraminiferal zones. The morphological variation of the genus has been analysed. The palaeobiogeographical significance of this form is discussed. In the light of the present find of Bolivinoides, palaeoclimatic conditions of the Cretaceous shelf seas of the basin has been suggested.
