Mineralogy and Genesis of Fluorite Deposits of Chandidongri, Madhya Pradesh
Subscribe/Renew Journal
Fluorite occurs as replacement and cavity filling type in a shear zone traversing the Dongargarh granites where basic rocks' are encountered. This region is different in two ways: 1. presence of basic rocks in the shear zone and 2. absence of any calcareous type of rocks as compared to other fluorite occurrences like Ambadongar in Gujarat and Kahela-Mandokipal in Rajasthan. Fluorite, tysonite, borofluorite and yittrofluorite are the minerals identified. Geochemical studies combined with thermodynamic data throw a better light on the genesis of the fluorite deposits of this area which can be classified as low temperature hydrothermal.
