Sone Valley Talchir Glacial Deposits Madhya Pradesh, India
Subscribe/Renew Journal
Glacial origin of Talchir deposits of India has long been accepted but along with this all the tillites have also been regarded as the lower most Talchir bed. The author has found that in Sone valley this is not true and the tillites are Upper Talchir in age. Beds older than Talchir tillite deposited under the floating ice shelf were met with in Johilla river and other sections.
The ice movement direction in Sone valley is indicated by the two striated pavements as from southeast to northwest. There is no evidence to support the conclusion drawn by some earlier workers that the ice may have come from Vindhyan Plateau in the north.
