The conservation by storage in underground cisterms of a significant proportion of local rainfall, to provide a supplementary supply during the non-monsoon months, is a feasible proposition. Basic requirements in respect of cistern capacities, possible supply levels, excavations required, possible layout and preliminary cost estimates are indicated.
