Abstract
To investigate the effect of photoperiod on the expression of hypothalamic AVT gene and adrenal fiinction in control and water deprived conditions, three weeks old Japanese quail were exposed to short (8L: 16D) and long photoperiod (16L: 8D) for thirty days followed by four days of water deprivation. Osmotically stressed birds; in both photoperiodic conditions revealed a significant decrease in body weight and an increase in plasma osmolality when compared to their respective controls.
