Abstract

The vacancies produced by the movement of dislocation jogs are to migrate to dislocation lines and accumulate on voids along the dislocations and by the use of the vacancy movement that conforms to the result of fatigue test, the cause of fatigue failure is investigated.

Abstract

The problem of a hard cylinder rolling with constant velocity over a viscoelastic half space has been treated in terms of the bulk properties of the half space. It was theoretically found that the rolling friction changes with the relaxation time T; when T is very small, the frictional moment is proportional to the velocity of the cylinder, whereas, when T is very large, the moment is independent of the velocity. The attenuation of the amplitude of a swinging pendulum consists of two terms, one is in proportion to the velocity and the other is a constant. When the amplitude becomes very small, the constant term of the moment diminishes.
