Abstract
Results of tension tests on copper and brass specimens using a capacitor Micro Strain Gauge measuring strains upto 10-6 mm/mm are presented. Data for anelastic recovery with time suggest the existence of more than one relaxation time. The anelastic recovery curves are idealised and the resulting relations of stress with the three components of strain, viz., elastic (εe), anelastic (εa) and plastic (εp) components are discussed.
