Production of Precast Concrete Building Units Using Fly Ash

The paper discusses different espects of using fly ash in the production of precast concrete building units. A method of proportioning fly ash concrete mixes having 20 percent less cement, by weight, than the corresponding plain cement concrete mixes is described for attaining equal 1-day strength. The result of laboratory tests and field scale trials are reported leading to the conclusion that fly ash can. be used to produce, different types of concrete building units with 20 per cent saving in cement consumption.
