The use of rigid PVC pipes for the distribution of potable water are gradually increasing its popularity throughout the world for its efficiency and economy. Though its advent in India is very new, extensive studies have already been made by several Governmental authorities and Central Public Health Engineering Research Institute and consequently ISI has laid down standards (IS:4985-1268) for rigid PVC pipes for protected water supply in India.
