Success of any technological efforts or financial investments towards modernisation of the environment and rural sanitation of Indian villages cannot be achieved without orienting the attitude, behaviour and outlook of the villagers concerned in favour of accepting the said efforts for modernisation. Thus the problems are largely linked with the psycho-social domain and as such it should be examined from the view point of social ecology i.e., the individuals in relation to the existing socialised habitat.
