The world has witnessed with horror the greatest catastrophe before the expiry of the very first month of the new year. The foul hand of a mad assassin has cut short the precious life of the greatest of all great men of the world. When the world was being torn asunder with jealousy, suspicion and disbelief in man and God alike, when man had been fighting against man, community against community, nation against nation, even father against son and son against father,-it was he who came forward with his unflinching faith in Love, Truth and Non-violence and in Brotherhood of man and it was he who untiringly went on preaching and demonstrating the force of non-violence when the nations of the world had been busy vieing with each other in discovering weapons of destruction. India has lost this great man, Mahatma Gandhi, when she needs him more than ever.
