The following are some points from an interesting talk by Sri P. C. Bose before Association of Engineers on 15-9-51.

1. 85% of the people in India live in village.
2. The villagers are illiterate and poor.
3. In Bengal the percentage of the people living in villages who enjoy good health is very little; according to Dr. Lall 11.6% do not enjoy good health at all.
4. Water supply: Unsatisfactory.
5. The rivers, tanks and canals are constantly polluted.
