Nuclear Power Plant Training Simulators

This paper presents an analysis, operation and characteristics of a nuclear power plant training simulator as an operator training tool for the nuclear power plants. The urgent need for operator and management technical training programs was made clear by the actions of both the control room personnel of Three Mile Island-2 and their various "advisors" during the recent accident. Post TMI analysis has shown that the simulators are essential for training the operators and the capabilities of the simulators must be improved such that the dynamics of the simulator as observed during both normal and abnormal sequences, duplicates the actual plant with an acceptable level of accuracy.
