All Pay and No Work a? No Pay and All Work are the two extremes co-existing in India like the peaceful (!?) co-existence of unimaginable wealth and extreme poverty.

After 33 years of independence, Indians have been more dependent in all walks of life-education, industry, agriculture (which fortunately the least in quantum).

Education is neither country-based nor work based.

Industries involving more than 60% of total investment in public sector have proved a total (?) fail ire in Indian economy-neither can they produce what is needed in our country, nor have they been able to have their impact felt by the private sector undertakings producing goods of similar nature

Coal being abundant in the country, most of the heavy industries are based on oil, lion's share of which is imported- The oil price-rise every now and then is worsening the economy-as the controlling factor is located outside the country.

The author remembers a simple question posed by an Archbishop

Do you act or react ?

Its meaning was not so significant to the author at the time, who regrets much to have to realise the lucid meaning of the same.

Indian economy does not act. it reacts.

This is the greatest part of the tragedy for an independent nation.

Can Indian economy act ? Do you want it to act or do you desire it to depend wholely and solely on the mercies and vagaries of the foreign nations ?
