Even a few decades back there was hardly any awareness that the energy problem would become so acute within such a short period of time. The sharp increase in the oil price during the 1970s has given a jolt to the unsuspecting world that there existed a real energy problem. The conventional sources being finite in nature, efforts are being made by many countries to exploit the various renewable sources of energy in an unprecedented scale. The major areas of thrust in this direction has been towards the exploitation of solar, wave, wind, tidal, geothermal, ocean-thermal-gradient, bio-mass energy sources and the like. This paper deals in brief with the exploitation of non-conventional source of energy from waves of the sea.
