India ranks fruits in area, production of banana in the world. Chhattisgarh state also contributed the status of being increasing trend in the cultivation for banana production and marketing. Study aims to examine constraints in Banana production and supply chain management of Banana in Raipur district of Chhattisgarh. Study on the based on the response collected personally from 30 Banana growers, selected purposely from four villages of Raipur district of Chhattisgarh state. It was found that, most of the respondent belonged to other backward caste, school educated and were having large size of land holding. They were mostly performed irrigated agriculture with an average area of 2.17 ha. under Banana cultivation, overall on an average cropping intensity was observed to be 259.89 per cent. Consumption of Banana was found very low and farmers prefer to sold-out more than 99.08 per cent of their total produce in mostly through channel-I involving wholesaler. Charges were having highest share of marketing cost in both the channels of marketing. The producer receives same amount by selling of producer through both the channels of marketing. High temperature and problem of electricity, lack of improved varieties for Banana cultivation was found as most important constraint faced by the Banana growers. Similarly, lack of processing industry, storage, fluctuation of price and regulated marketing system was reported as most important constraint faced by the farmers during supply chain management of Banana. During summer season due to high temperature the leaves of Banana is badly damaged due to sunstroke. Varieties which are capable to resist high temperature is to be evolved. An extensive survey is done to study the problem and suggestion are given here to improve the supply chain management of banana in Raipur district of Chhattisgarh. Keywords

An attempt has been made in this paper to finding the major production constraints of soybean crops. The study was conducted in Kabirdham district of Chhattisgarh state with hundred farmers who were selected randomly. For the study two blocks was selected from district; there after 2 villages from each block was selected purposively according to maximum area and production of soybean. From the farmer of the selected villages, a proportionate stratified sample respondent was considered in order to make a number of respondents equal to 10 per cent. The total numbers of constraints selected for the study were nine, which are categories as technical, institutional, economical and transportaional constraints. Out of these constraints, the major constraints were ‘high costs of improved production inputs` followed by ‘Problem Lack of labour’, ‘problems of insect pest, dieses and bad whether side effects, ‘lack of resources i.e. Money, equipment, ‘Lack of latest technical know-How about the crop ‘lack of nutrient in soil and lack of sufficient soil testing facilities. The some farmers perception on constraints was ‘Lack of financing at reasonable interest rate’. ‘Lack of improved and high yielding varieties’ and ‘Lack of recommended package practices of the crop in the region’.Keywords

An attempt has been made in this paper to finding the major production constraints of soybean crops. The study was conducted in Chhattisgarh plain zone of Chhattisgarh state with three hundred farmers who were selected using proper sampling technique. Demographic analysis reveals that 300 numbers of sampled households comprised with marginal, small, medium and large farmers of 37, 74, 113 and 76 numbers, respectively. The average family members varied from 5 to 7 across the farm size. Overall, family composition in proportion of male and female was 54 and 46 per cent. There were eleven major problems in soybean production confronted by sampled soybean growers. Among these problems, high costs of improved production inputs was observed as most severe problem with 74.74 average score (Ranked - I) in Garret ranking followed by problem of crop affected by Insect pest and dieses and bad whether side effects with 68.02 average score (Ranked - II) and less severe problems observed were recommended package practices of the crop (Ranked - IX), Improved and high yielding varieties (Ranked - X) and lack of sufficient financing facilities (Ranked - XI), with average score 37.39, 30.58 and 23.42, respectively. Keywords
