The complexes of the type MLX2 [where M= Ni(II), L= Benzofuran-2-carboxy-phenyl thiosemicarbazide and X= mono nitrophenate (C6H5ONO2)ion] were isolated in solid state and characterised by the elemental analysis, I.R, electronic spectral data and magnetic moment studies. The ligand behaves as bidentate by coordinating through oxygen of carbonyl group and nitrogen of hydrazine moiety. The ligand and metal complexes were screened for their antimicrobial activity Thiosemicarbazone and their complexes have shown a great variety of biological activity1-6.Keywords

The metal complexes of Cu(II) with thiosemicarbazones as primary and naphthoic acid as co-ligand are synthesized and characterized. The structure of newly synthesized complexes and the ligands were estabilished with U.V, I.R, Magnetic moment study and elememtal analysis.The ligand and the complexe were also screened for their fungicidal activity against different fungi viz- Drechlera tetramera, Alterntria alternate and Fusarium oxysporum.
