A fuel cell is a device used to convert chemical energy obtained from a fuel to electrical energy via a chemical reaction. These fuel cells when coupled with other sources of power can provide a system providing power for longer durations and of high efficiency. These fuel cells take into account not only the aspects concerned with thermal and electrical efficiencies but also the reduction in emission of pollutants. Hybrid fuel cells find tremendous applications in vehicles, telecommunications and a variety of industrial processes where clean sources of power are required. Here we present a review of the latest research in the field of hybrid fuel cells involved in generation of power and the applications of these fuel cells in science, modern engineering and technology. This paper can be referenced as a review on the applications and advantages of a hybrid fuel cell based power system as a clean and efficient source of power.
