Abstract

A field study was conducted during Kharif season 2014-15 to determine the efficacy of different insecticides against semilooper Thysanoplusia orichalcea (Fab.) in soybean ecosystem in the insectory premises of Agricultural Entomology Section, College of Agriculture Nagpur. Least cumulative average number larvae (0.05/ml) was recorded in treatment of Fenvalerate 20 EC @ 0.50 ml/l (T₇) found to be superior compared to other treatments. The next effective treatments were emamectin benzoate 5 SG @ 0.3 g/l (T₆ : 0.06/ml/l) and also in Spinosad 45 SC @ 0.25 ml/l (T₃:0.07ml/l), Indoxacarb 15.8 EC @ 0.60 ml/l (T₅:0.08ml/l) found to be at par with T₆ and T₃. However, the treatment Neem Oil 2 per cent (T₂) recorded 0.78 larvae/mrl. Whereas, NSE @ 5 per cent (T₁:0.95ml/l) and Beauveria bassiana 1×10⁸ CFU @ 4 g/l (T₄:0.99/mrl) were found to be least effective in reducing larval population/mrl. Maximum mean larval population (1.48/ml/l) was recorded in control (Water spray; T₈). Fenvalerate 20 EC @ 0.50 ml/l, Indoxacarb 15.8 EC @ 0.60 ml/l, Spinosad 45 SC @ 0.25 ml/l were found to be most effective treatments which recorded highest yield of 21.05 q/ha, 20.10 q/ha and 19.02 q/ha, respectively. From the seed production point of view Fenvalerate 20 EC @ 0.50 ml/l, Indoxacarb 15.8 EC @ 0.60 ml/l, Spinosad 45 SC @ 0.25 ml/l were most effective in recording highest yield.

Least average number of grubs recorded in treatment of Fenvalerate 20 EC @ 0.50 ml found to be superior as compared to other treatments. The next effective treatments were emamectin benzoate 5 S G @ 0.3 g per lit. and also in Spinosad 45 SC @ 0.25 ml per lit., Indoxacarb 15.8 EC @ 0.60 ml per lit., which were at par with T₆ and T₃. However, the treatment Neem oil 2 per cent recorded grubs per 5 plants. Whereas, NSE @ 5 per cent and Beauveria bassiana 1x10⁸ CFU @ 4 g per lit. were found to be least effective in reducing grubs population.

Abstract

Studies were under taken on seasonal incidence and relationship of weather parameters on major defoliators of soybean during Kharif 2014-15 at the College of Agriculture, Nagpur. Incidence of Spodoptera litura began during 35^th standard week (0.20±0.12) gradually attained maximum (1.80±0.11) during 41^st standard week. Multiple regression analysis revealed that decrease in 1per cent of morning relative and evening relative humidity would lead to increase of 0.019 and 0.014 mean number of Spodoptera larvae per meter row length. Incidence of Thysanoplusia orechalsia began during 35^th standard week (0.20±0.15) gradually attained maximum (1.00±0.12) during 42^nd standard week. Population was decreased from 43rd standard week onwards, Regression analysis revealed that decrease in 1per cent of morning relative humidity would lead to increase of 0.010 mean number of larvae per meter row length, decrease in 1°C of morning relative humidity would lead to increase of 2.264 per cent foliage damage.
