Abstract

The results of feeding a processed vegetable protein food consisting of groundnut protein isolate and Bengal gram flour, supplemented with vitamins and minerals, to pre-school children living in an orphanage, have been reported previously.

Abstract

In India as in other developing countries the per capita production of milk and other animal protein foods does not begin to meet the needs of the population. Considerable attention has been paid to the possibility of using processed protein foods based on oil seed meals and legumes to supplement children's diets.
