Abstract
The first year of life particularly the first six months is the most critical period in a child's life. Breast feeding is the prerequisite for childs survival throughout the critical period of life. Seventy percent of energy requirements of a child is met by breast milk alone. But as the child grows, breast milk alone will not be able to provide adequate amount of all nutrients needed to maintain growth after 6 months.
