Winged bean (Psophocarpus tetragonolobous L.) a leguminous crop,is a source of high protein and high fat. Like most leguminous seeds, the winged bean is relatively deficient in sulphur containing amino acids and rich in lysine. Winged bean is also known to be associated with certain anti nutritional factors like protease inhibitors, haemagglutinins and saponins. Since winged bean, virtually duplicating soybean, can be grown in varied agroclimatic conditions, has attracted worldwide attention to promote it as a high protein crop.- Effects of Feeding Hydrogenated Fat and Cholesterol on the Plasma and Liver Lipids in Rats

Diet is thought to play an important role in cardiovascular discases. Saturated fats have been shown to raise plasma cholesterol and low density lipoprotein levels and dietary cholesterol increase total plasma cholesterol. It is clear that the 'diet-heart' question is complex, and new information is emerging continually. It is generally believed that to prevent the incidence of coronary heart diseases the composition of the diet should be altered by reducing the intake of total fats, saturated fats and cholesterol and by increasing polyunsarurated fats. However, many diverse opinions have been put forward by different investigators.- The Biochemistry of the Tissues
