Food beliefs, fads and prejudices are important social factors which are known to influence the choice of foods of many population groups in different regions of the country. The current national production of soybean is around 9,81,900 tonnes in 13,01,400 hectares area. Soybean being referred to frequently as 'golden bean' or 'wonder bean' can be considered as a boon to solve protein malnutrition.
