Abstract
Inadequate intake of dietary vitamin 'A' is the most obvious factor responsible for the widespread prevalence of vitamin 'A' deficiency which is reflected in the appearance of clinical signs and symptoms related to damage of epithelial layer of eye, decreased protection against bacterial invasion and poor protein utilization. Mild anaemia and renal calculi have also been found associated with its deficiency.
