Abstract
The large group of microorganisms belonging to the genus Strepomyces has presented many problems to taxonomist, microbiologist, firstly because of the exceptionally high number of species involved, secondly the variability of certain characters used for identification, thirdly the variation within species and the phenomena of mutation which may Occur, and finally the lack of coordination amongst scientists working in the field.
