A high correlation between the levels of calcium binding protein (CaBP) and the absorption of calcium in the intestine has been reported in many studies". CaBP is located histologically at the brush border region of the intestinal absobing cell. The fact that Ca2+-ATP-ase, too, has been shown to occur at the brush border region. This has been correlated with the energy requirement of CaBP mediated active absorption of calcium'".- The Effect of Different Levels of Bengal Gram Protein on Tissue Concentration of Iron, Serum Iron, Total Serum Iron Binding Capacity, Total Plasma Protein, Hemoglobin and Hematocrit Value in Rats

Wall work et al and Van Campen and House reported that liver iron concentration tended to increase in rats Fed diets low in protein. Excessive deposition of iron has also been reported in livers of protein deficient chicks and kwashiorkor children.- Effect of Different Levels of Pulse Proteins (Bengal Gram and Lentil) on Calcium and Phosphorus Balance and Calcium and Phosphorus Contents of Different Tissues and Serum
