In vitro assay for cytotoxic activity of the stem-leaves of Calotropis procera was carried out against human cancer cell lines at the concentration of 10, 30 and 100μg/ml. Results revealed that the extracts of the plant possessed in vitro anticancer potential against HCT-15 (colon) cancer cell line at different concentrations. Further, the fractionation of the extracts was carried out and the fractions were tested on the same human cancer cell line. It was found that all the fractions inhibited the growth of HCT-15 at 100μg/ml except water-soluble fractions, but the significant growth inhibition was shown by the chloroform-soluble fractions of the ethanolic extract and 50% ethanolic extract. Keywords

Immunomodulating substance especially immunostimulant are in high demand because of the increasing occurrence of disease that impair the immunestimulation. In search for new immunomodulating agents over the past few year, many traditional herbal medicines and relatively new plant products have been evaluated. These are used as a tonic and thought to flourish and strengthen the host defense mechanism. In the present study, attempts have been made to evaluate and investigate the immunomodulating potential of aqueous extract of Alseodaphne andersoniii and preliminary examination of this aqueous extract has shown significant increase in antibody concentration and DTH response which is the indicative of the fact that this extract can be a source of new immunostimulant drug. Keywords
