The field experiments were conducted at ARS, Mudhol, University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad in order to study the response of sugarbeet genotypes and fertilizer N and K levels on ischolar_main characters of sugarbeet during Rabi season of 2011-12 and 2012-13. The experiment was laid out in Split Plot Design. Three genotypes viz., SZ-35, PAC 60008 and Magnolia were assigned to main plot and five N:K2O levels to sub plots viz., 100, 120, 140, 160 and 180 kg N:K2O ha-1. The crop was raised under irrigated condition. The experimental results revealed that, the performance Magnolia genotype was found superior over SZ 35 and PAC 60008 with respect ischolar_main diameter, fresh weight and volume. The lengthier ischolar_mains were observed in SZ 35. Among the fertilizer N:K2O levels application of 160:160 kg N:K2O ha-1 was found to be significant compared to other levels. The genotype Magnolia applied with of N and K2O @ 160:160 kg ha-1 recorded significantly higher ischolar_main volume, diameter and ischolar_main fresh weight compared to other treatment combinations. Keywords

The sugarbeet is an important commercial crop for temperate region and long back tropicalized sugarbeet varieties have been emerged out in the country due to the effort of plant breeders. The cultivation of tropical sugarbeet in India is not a new practice but not yet popularized still; the southern states such as Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu have been already succeeded in its cultivation. The cultivation of sugarbeet requires a sound knowledge of sugarbeet agronomy and one should know the agro-techniques to obtain higher yield and sustain the productivity of sugarbeet. Considerable research efforts made by researchers worldwide in developing the production packages and these agro-techniques may motivate the new researcher to think new areas of research in India. Hence, considerable effort has been made here to review the various agro-techniques of sugarbeet with respect to growth, yield, economics and quality and it is the key subject, reviewed and presented below. Keywords
