.Automotive industry is switching to Electric Vehicles (EV) to reduce CO emission. Environmental effects due to air pollution and strict 2 government norms on emission are determining the future of automobiles in India. A significant part in electric vehicle is battery packs. Nowadays battery pack manufacturers face difficulties to improve the efficiency of battery pack for its long-term usage, store energy for large amount of time and to improve the mileage of the electric vehicles. The individual cells are combined together in series or parallel connection to form module and those modules are combined together to form Battery Pack. These individual batteries are connected by means of interconnecting plate through suitable welding method. This paper discusses about the need for automotive market to switch to EV technology, trends of EV, current challenges faced by automotive industry, potential benefits of using EV, various challenges faced while manufacturing the battery pack and finally recommends the joining method of battery and interconnector plate by comparative study and assessment based on quality, cost and delivery
