It is a privilage for me to deliver the prestigious Sir L. P. Misra Memorial Lecture at the National Welding Seminar 1995 at Cochin in Kerala. I am specially fascinated to come to Kerala, which is so wonderful in natural resources and greenery. Today, we have here an assembly of renown experts from various sections of industry, welding product manufacturers, R & D centres in the field of welding as well as from various educational institutions.
