The effect of welding conditions, technique and filler wire type have been studied to understand their effect on the size and width of nondendritic equiaxed grain of GTA weld in alloy 1441-T8. The microstructure of all the welds exhibited a fusion boundary equiaxed zone (EQZ). In addition to heat input, filler wire type and welding technique are found to have considerable effect on the grain size and width of EQZ.
