With the advancement of technological breakthroughs/ achievements in various industries like Defence, Steel & Power, Petroleum, Chemical etc. the need for perfect weldment is also increasing. Any perfect weldments require optimum welding skills, for which we require properly trained welding operators. Human Resource Development plays a pivotal role in this process of development of welding operators in any industry. A comprehensive and time bound programme is a must for any Human Resource Development related programme to be successful.

This paper gives an overview of the task of “Human Resource Development in Welding”, with special reference to "Visakhapatnam Steel Plant”. It is recommended that any industry whether in public sector or private sector would be immensely benefited by such a planned Human Resource Development approach in any field.
