History and Status of Development of Welding Consumables in the Country

The first historical landmark for welding as far as India was concerned was in the year 1935. It was in this year that the Indian Railways undertook strengthening of a few bridges by welding. Besides this, the Railways carried out some experiments on welding and the conclusions were presented in the form of two papers at the Proceedings Symposium on the Welding of Iron and Steel held in London in 1935.
