In the history of the development of arc welding 10th October, 1885, is a significant date.

The Russian scientist, Nekolai Nikolaevich Benardos (1842-1905) was awarded with several patents for his "ELECTROHEPHAESTUS" system for carbon arc welding. The first one was the French patent dated 10th October, 1885, followed by Belgian (1885), England (1885), Germany (1885), Sweden (1885), then Rassian in 1886 and lastly U. S. in 1887.
