Microemulsion technique is gaining importance in the perspective of gen­eration of nano-composite materials. Stability of microemulsion system has been discussed from basic thermodynamic principles. The applications of microemulsion technique in synthesis of nanom aterials, in production of polymers with desired morphology and in different biomedical processes have been discussed.
