Background: Thyroid diseases are among the commonest chronic non communicable diseases. It has been estimated that about 42 million people in India suffer from thyroid diseases as estimated from a projection made from various available studies.Thyrotoxicosis, caused by the tissue effects of excess thyroid hormone, would count as one of the most common manifestations of thyroid disease and poses several challenges to the treating physician.
