In this paper, we determine the analytical solution of the transient heat conduction problem in a homogenous hollow infinite cylinder that is subjected to different boundary conditions on the outer surface, while the temperature at the inner surface is kept at zero temperature throughout. The Jones's modification of the Wiener-Hopf technique is utilized due to the mixed nature of the boundary conditions on the outer surface of the cylinder to determine the overall temperature and heat flux.

Abstract

In this paper, we determine the analytical solution of the transient heat conduction problem in a homogenous hollow infinite cylinder that is subjected to different boundary conditions on the outer surface, while the temperature at the inner surface is kept at zero temperature throughout. The Jones's modification of the Wiener-Hopf technique is utilized due to the mixed nature of the boundary conditions on the outer surface of the cylinder to determine the overall temperature and heat flux.
