- Impact of Social Networking Sites in Women Trafficking

Women trafficking have been the one of the reasons for threat towards women. Women been trafficked for several reasons like prostitution, organ sale, labor and so many other reasons. Women who are seeking jobs, or help are the one who are targeted easily by this kind of chains. It’s important to find out the role of social media networking sites in this action. Even though social media networking sites are blamed blindly for the destruction of women, it is necessary to find out the fact through research. This study attempts to figure out the role of social media sites in women trafficking, through this, study will be able to reach a certain conclusion on the play by social media sites in women trafficking. The snowball sampling and in-depth interview is well suited for this study, which helps to reach out to larger participant and gather the information. In-depth interview would help to get the detailed viewpoints of the participants based on which the study will be able to reach to a desired conclusion.

The principal objective of this study is to find out the awareness of surrogacy among common people. The media being the benchmark, the study concentrates on the role of media in spreading awareness to the general public. The surrogacy process has a taboo attached to it especially in Indian context. The word surrogacy is either unpopular or have had a negative meaning among the people. Those women who become surrogate mothers are not given appropriate respect or rather considered unusual from the society. What exactly is a surrogacy, what is the process involved and what is the role of surrogate mother, these are few common questions based on which survey will be conducted in order to figure out the medium through which people are acknowledged. Surrogacy is considered as consent to those couple who have no chance of getting a baby of their own. At this stage they can approach surrogate mother who is ready to bear the baby for such couple.

The role of press is said to be effective and powerful in changing the society. Since the robust feature of newspapers has able to grab loyal customers, it has to make use of this opportunity. This paper focuses on the coverage of news related to women empowerment published in the two leading newspapers – Udayavani and Deccan Herald- both being published and leading daily in Mangalore the heart of Dakshina Kannada district, Karnataka. South Canara consists of the areas of the present-day districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi of Karnataka and Kasaragod District of Kerala. Injustice against women is being the common news to be reported in the present scenario. News such as Rape, Dowry and many more has become common in growing cities. Unfortunately South Canara has been added one among such cities where crimes against women have become common and it has gone to the extent of acceptance. Newspapers are being the major source of information; newspaper has a greater impact on the readers. The print media said to be relevant and trustworthy, thus this trust and loyalty need to used to spread news related to women empowerment.
