Yoga, an assemblage of ancient spiritual practices, originated in India. Yoga empowers the body and the mind. Asanas (postures), Pranayamas (breathing exercises) and Dhyana (meditation) of Hatha Yoga offer relaxation techniques which promote good mental health. Practice of yoga helps to alleviate depression and anxiety. Yoga is a wholesome technique for self empowerment and growth. Practice of yoga helps us to deal with day to day stressors and in the management of negative emotions. Yoga is a way of life. Lifestyle intervention through yoga helps in developing a positive attitude and harmony within the individual.Keywords
