The Context, Complexity and Concerns of Higher Education in India:Search Areas for Reform

A review of philosophy of education, its expected role, its importance in creating a learning society for socio-economic transformation and empirical evidences on its importance suggests three important inferences. First, to Dr. S. Radhakrishan, a great teacher-cum-philosopher of last century, the two foundations of human civilization are: Ideas and Ideals which are expected to emanate mainly from educational institutions, especially from colleges and universities.
