Clustered Gateway Architecture in Mesh Networking with Load Threshold Based Gateway Selection

Mesh networks are considered to be the future of internet, with an extra potential offering high transmission speed and low cost. But the common single gateway architecture is inadequate for clubbing this high speed network with the outer networks. In the future, the WMN technology may get extended to such a level that the effective usage of constrain based scheduling of the gateways used in WMNs will pave a new opening towards high speed networks. In this paper, the performance of WMN is increased by implementing multiple gateways for coupling the WMN with the external networks and the gateways are selected based on the load threshold method. The performance of WMN using both the single gateway scheme and the load threshold based multiple gateway scheme are compared using ns2 simulator and the load threshold based multiple gateway method is found to exhibit more performance than the single gateway based one.
